REMINDER....

Teachers who are planning to participate in the CM program, whether it is Path A or Path B, you have TWO (2) more weeks to register online. Deadline is 11.59 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

Please take note: If your student did not participate in CM in March 2011, you may not be able to re-enroll him or her unless he or she has a 6-digit password. Winna Tan, the CM Chair is not able to provide you with the 6-digit password. She has to contact the CCSR to receive the password and that takes time. If you ask her for that password on Tuesday evening, the 15th,  she may not be able to get it in time for you to register, and as a result, your student may be left out of the list. There is no late registration after Nov. 15.

PLEASE, REGISTER TODAY!

CM Teachers, please note...

New this year! Students registering for CM Path A must be age 5 or older as of November 15, 2011. There is no age limit for Path B.

Branch Recital.....

The first Branch Recital of the year was held on Sunday, Oct 16, at the Church of our Saviour in San Gabriel. Nine students of four teachers performed in the beautiful sanctuary. There were 8 piano solos, 1 piano duet and 1 violin solo. Thank you, Carol Lee and Shari Wang, co-chairs for organizing the event. A photo above shows students with their teachers - Dr. Jo Ann Haycraft, Carrie Kennedy, Tamara Krigman, and Cindy Liang. Thank you teachers for your students' participation in the recital.

Next Branch Recital will be on Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Pasadena Public Library. Recital application forms are in the Fliers and Forms section. Refer to your directory for Recital application deadlines. Support your Branch - send students to participate!

It is with sadness.....

that we announce the passing of Dr. Tyler Tom on Sep. 6, 2011. Dr. Tom was a member of MTAC Pasadena. A memorial concert is being planned in his memory. Look for more details on this blog.

CM Registration....

CM Online Registration for all disciplines (piano, voice, woodwinds, strings, harp) will end at 11.59 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. No late registrations will be accepted and no corrections can be made. Please check your submissions carefully - spelling of names, CM level, Path A or B, and school grade. Students' birthdates are also compulsory. Last minute registration can result in computer jam, causing panic and maybe inability to register your students. California is a big state and over 30,000 students are registered for CM each year. Be the early bird and avoid disaster. Your CM Chair will not be able to help you if you miss the deadline!

Postmarked on Wed. Nov. 16, please send to Winna Tan the following:
1. Registration Fee (one check from teacher, made payable to MTAC Pasadena)
2. Student List and Student Fees List (the summary page)
3. Teacher Work Agreement on p. 17 of the 17-page CM document
4. Teacher Help Form for Testing days on p. 6 of the 17-page CM document
5. A separate check of $9.00 (refreshments) made payable to MTAC Pasadena

Thank you for your cooperation! If you know of teachers who are out of town and haven't registered their students, please alert them. They can get onto a computer anywhere to register.

Revised Master Class Date...

In the September 2011 Newsletter, there was a paragraph on CORRECTIONS IN THE DIRECTORY. The date Jan. 15, 2012 for a master class should be deleted.
The revised date is Sunday Feb. 19, 2012 for an Intermediate/Advanced Master Class by Bernadene Blaha. The deadline to apply will be Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012.

There was an incorrect date in the Certificate of Merit application packet.  If you have already downloaded/printed the packet from the Fliers and Forms tab, please redownload and reprint it.  You can choose to print just page 5 in order to save paper, as the incorrect date was published - it should have read APRIL 29, rather than MAY 6 for the YAG recital and Senior Awards Ceremony & Dinner.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

An Important Reminder....

Just a reminder for all teachers to read the MTAC Code of Ethics found in the new State Directory (2011-2012) on page 4. Teachers are not to hand out their business card to students at all music events (branch or state levels) or talk to students or their parents in regards to the hows and whys of music performance.

Welcome....

Dear Teachers:
Welcome to modern technology! Pasadena Branch now has a webpage/blog. This is a blog where news items will be added from time to time with no deadlines for you to submit news items. Email them to Winna at anytime and it will be posted.

Announcements of recitals, lectures or master classes will be on the Fliers and Forms page - please click on that Tab. Application forms and guidelines will also be on Fliers and Forms page.

The Calendar is still being worked on and more events will be posted.  Because the webpage is a public domain, please be reminded that whatever is posted will be read by anyone who logs onto the webpage.

***CM Teachers, the 17-page document is in the Fliers and Forms page. Please note, page 16 is for you to print for parents of students who are taking CM evaluations for the first time. Page 6 (Teacher Help Form) and Page 17 (Teacher Work Agreement) must be filled out and returned by Nov. 16 with CM Fees and Student List. Please make a copy of Pages 6 and 16 for your own records.***

If you would like any photos or articles posted, please email to mtacpasadena@yahoo.com as an attachment.

This webpage is still being worked on. You will see from time to time that there will be additions. All pertinent information will be posted in approximately a month's time. Thank you for your patience.
